International Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO) in association with UN felicitated Dumidu Ranaweera - Executive Director of SSMI Asia with REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship Chakra - Bronze Award during the REX Conclive 2015-16 held from 25th to 27th at Delhi Public School, Gurgaon, Haryana India for his voluntary contributions made to promote the goodness of Lean Six Sigma in Sri Lanka and beyond.
During the event, Dumidu also delivered a session on "Power of Dreaming".
Award Citation:
"Dumidu was born in Sri Lanka - a country which was affected by a 30-year civil unrest and a devastating Tsunami. During the past 15 years, he has gone through many vicissitudes to find ways that he could contribute towards re-building the brand of his country by promoting the use of structured problem solving (e.g. Lean Six Sigma) & business excellence methodologies among its corporates, citizens and taking their best practices to the global stage. This includes guiding over 50 manufacturing and services organizations across eight countries in their journey to excellence, training over 4500 resources, guiding over 200 improvement projects resulting in millions of dollar savings, sharing his expertise in multiple leading forums as a featured speaker/resource and becoming the first ever Asian to be awarded Executive Master Black Belt status & Lean Six Sigma Coaching Excellence medal from the principal architect & best-selling author on Six Sigma, Mikel J Harry PhD.
This award is presented to recognize his amazing journey, his contributions within and beyond the boundaries of Sri Lanka & accolade his continued passion towards re-building his country’s brand and its people. Dumidu is the first Sri Lankan to be awarded with REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship Award."
